So I was looking for an extended mail server : time and information management all included. I’ve found Zimbra which tightly integrated everything.
I was a bit disappointed when I discovered you have to pay for the Outlook connector as well as the iSync iCal and Mail bundle. But I still wanted to try it.
For the sake of my Unbuntu distro there was packages and even an install script. Everything went fine and I could be up and running in ten minutes. Then the server collapsed. I when I logged back on it it had 50% memory consumed and 30% CPU. Huh!
Then I realized the bundled MySQL server is in standard port (refraining the Ubuntu one to start).
Bottom line: this must be a wonderful product for a dedicated server and huge ressources. I’d miss all the functionality but i prefer a 1% CPU Exim with no UI.
