On the webmail client I definitely think Gmail is the best. Keyboard shortcuts, asynchronous functions and sleek interface make it faster to use than a desktop application. Even better you don’t have to set him up, so you can carry him anywhere.
Unfortunately you don’t have the total owner ship of your data. I may sound like an hacker of the 90s but I don’t want anybody to mess around my files. And don’t tell me about ethics; they tend to pop after you needed them.
I’ve been browsing to find a good webmail. At first I used horde’s IMP and switched to Squirrelmail. Right now those two project seriously lake a concern on usability. I’ve seen RoundCube for a while but didn’t want to commit on a test because its version number was very low.
Well Roundcube rocks. I haven’t thought than an webmail could be that responsive, it has a drag & drop interface and keyboard shortcuts are under way.
Last but not least: code base is so clean that creating a plugin architecture sounds easy.
