Memoirs of a Geisha
Published April 5th, 2006 in MoviesWow! I really mean wow. Usually the book is better because we expect the movie to render again what we felt in the book.
This movie is complementary: maybe you need to read the book to understand the plot, what ties all the characters. But then the movie becomes marvellous. All the scenes are truly rendered, you can’t help noticing the even the smallest detail was included. I mean not boldly shown but softly drawn like the whisper of a flower.
The movie reminded me also that the slightest gesture is a drama. The intensity of the sentiment we want to tame. And that the time I spent in Japan was great. Even if the last glimpse over Japan was far gone.
